Greetings from a snowy Michigan! Our first snow fall of the season and it was a doozy, 6 - 12 inches of snow depending where you live.
Early morning sewing.
I am working on my
Cardboard Crush journal, a workshop I signed up for over the summer but never got to. I am attaching card stock tags to various bits of paper and ephemera. I want to get the journal completed this week but there is much sewing to do and some of it I find challenging. This is when I wished I lived closer to some of you...
LLJ I wish I could transport you over here for a couple of hours!
Textured Journal
It has been a while since I worked in this journal. This picture turned up while I was cleaning, sorting and putting stuff away.
Its Easter and these little men are dressed up in their finest suits. They look so proud of themselves.
After I finished the page I was disappointed to discover I did not add any stitching. The only sewing I did was the buttons.
First snow
I will leave you with some early morning snap shots of the day after the storm:
|
The first falling flakes of snow |
|
Bushes and grasses drooping from the weight of the heavy snow |
|
Glorious blue sky with a touch of pink |
|
My favorite weeping pine |

Entry gate into the garden. Look closely in the snow and you can see the prints left by a visitor. |

Snow covered pumkpin |

A lingering rose donning a snowing coat |

Wine bottle tree |
Lovely snow pics Diane, especially of the bottle tree, I love that!! I'm happy to look at snow but don't want any quite yet!
ReplyDeleteI'll book an airline ticket, shall I and hop over to see you :-D However, I should warn you that I've never sewn paper and card so I'm not sure if I'd be of much help!! Lol. And of course I'll make you a Hooter but the postage might be a bit expensive? Let me know what colour you'd like and email me your postal addy and I'll get onto it when I can :-)
Hugs, LLJ 15 xxx
Ha ha i love the wine bottle tree- I hope you get a really good harvest! and with that snow - it will be lovely and chilled ;) Have a great week xxSoojay 14.
ReplyDeleteA wine bottle tree?....you grow your own? that's clever :-) Thanks for popping over to mine earlier....yes we hope to have the kitchen all finished before Christmas but there is so much to do everywhere here yet that it may be next Christmas :-)
ReplyDeleteHave a great week.
Hugs,

Thanks for your visit Diane and for your lovely comments. Those snowy scenes look magical. Though it's cold outside your desk looks all warm and cosy. Happy WOYWW!
ReplyDeleteOOh Diane, I don't envy you the snow at all. Despite how beautiful it looks - and that gorgeous post storm sky.....there's a compensation! How I like that photo of the lads..it's the hats that do it for me! You've done a great job on the page, am super impressed that you're working on two things at once - with all the sewing on the tags, its no surprise to me that your brain turned away from it for the journal page!
ReplyDeletewow, what snow, do you have often a white Christmas in Michigan? your journal looks awesome, just so that quote on Felix the crafty cat. Vicky(#8)
ReplyDeleteHi Diane, love all your snow pictures. We so rarely get a good heavy snowfall over here, rarely more than an inch at most- I'd really love to wake up to that much snow. Trouble is, we are so hopeless over here, the whole country would grind to a halt!
ReplyDeleteThe detail powder is by Stampendous- they do detail powder in other colours too-black, silver etc. Its great for stamps that have a lot of fine lines/script etc, as the grains are much finer than regular powders.Have a great week, Hugs, Shaz #1 xxx
Lovely snow pics! The one with the rose is very poignant! Snow can be nice - as long as you don't have to drive in it!Love your journal page with the little lads and your Cardboard Crush Journal sounds exciting! Happy WOYWW! zsuzsa @ InkyDinkyDoodle #29
ReplyDeleteYour snowy wine bottle tree is fantastic. What beautiful photos of the snow, my DD will be very envious, she longs for snow although we are not so keen when long journeys to work have to be made.
ReplyDeleteYour journal is looking great.
Thanks for visiting already

Had to look up cardboard crush - now I am in the loop. When its snows I wish I had a dog - our old girl loved to roll in it and eat it. Does that bottle tree grow more branches? Have a good Thanksgiving. Jackie x #20
ReplyDeleteLove the wine bottle tree. I would like some snow - apparently there was a little late on Friday evening - so D.I.L. said - I had gone to bed ready for the early start on Saturday morning. Thanks for visiting. Anne x #23
ReplyDeleteFabulous post Dianne! I love the Textured Journal page! Your snow pictures are beautiful, especially the sky pics and your gate! Good Luck with the Cardboard Crush Journal! Chrisx36
ReplyDeleteWe had lots of snow too! Not sure if I'm excited about it or not. I'm not a native Michigander and still am not used to the snow even after years of living here! Took me forever to brush my car off - thankfully most of it is gone by now. I know it won't be the last!
ReplyDeleteI love the journal -- it looks great!
Hi Diane,
ReplyDeleteLovely snow pics! I'd gladly swap some snow for our heatwave conditions this week!
Thanks for your kind comments too. Yes, I do like these Spectrum Noir pens but I can't compare them really, because they are the only alcohol markers I have. I do own miscellaneous Tombows and a set of (cheaper, but very good) Sugarloaf pens and these are both water based. I could not justify even contemplating those expensive Copics. I would not get the use out of them. Might do a post about this, at some stage.
Have a good week,
RosA # 25
