Scavenger Hunt Sunday: End of Spring Break Edition

Neglected

I did not have time to get my feet in shape for vacation.  Nails and soles are sorely neglected.

Signs of Spring

Cocoa Beach
Not sure what springs looks like in Florida but spring break looks like this.

Last Thing You Bought

Marble Mocha
Starbucks is a treat I save for vacations.  I am proud of myself as I only bought 2 thus far.

Shadow

Stone wall made from limestone.

Four Things

The four things I will always remember from this trip:
Shamu at Sea World; Pier at Cocoa Beach & the Tiki bar; Kennedy Space Center; Air Force rocket launch.

Another week of scavenged photos

A special thanks goes out to Ashley for selecting from my list!

What IS That?
Slightly gross but I do spoil my dog (isn't that what they're for?).  Whenever I have pizza, she gets the crust.  I have turned her into a pizza crust monster.

Yum
Okay, so I spoil my cats too.  Allistair enjoys licking up the remains of my morning yogurt.  He waits very patiently for me to finish.  Of course, he enjoys some flavors better than others, peach being one he especially likes.

On the road
With spring comes that “other” season here in Michigan otherwise known as orange barrel season.  Hate it!

On the shelf

I had an actual shelf photo taken but then Allistair decided to sit on top of my printer, which has become his new bad habit, and I thought this a much better photo op.

Bad habit

Where to begin… coffee is one of many.  It’s not the coffee (according to recent medical reports) but the creamer.  When I discovered flavored creamer, which adds loads of calories,  I no longer could drink it with just plain ordinary milk !  The biscotti are saved for special occasions or when you want to spruce up a photo.

Enjoyed scavenging for photos again this week with Scavenger Hunt Sunday.

Scavenging for photos for Scavenger Hunt Sunday

Before “showing off” my finds this week, I want to express my appreciation to those of you who stop by and leave such fabulous, encouraging, and touching comments.  This is my 3rd week joining in on the scavenging and I am having so much fun!  New to blogging, I'm still trying to find meme's/link parties that I can call home.  You all are such a wonderful group of people!  Thank you.

Here’s what I scavenged up this week for Ashley’s challenge:

Unusual crop
1.       Plants we grow and harvest
2.      Way to frame an image
3.      Cutting something very short
4.      A group or batch of something
5.      Handle of a whip

I have to admit, I had a difficult time with this one.  I first thought plants in a field or at the Farmer’s market (boring!) plus the only crop growing in the fields around here is snow!  My next thought was cropping a photo in an odd way.  I came up with zero (too left-brained for this sort of thing).  But in hunting through my photos I came across this shot; BINGO!  So I did cheat on this one as I did not take it this week, it was taken while I was stationed in Korea.  I took it because I was fascinated with the idea of peppers laying out to dry along public walkways; just don't see that here in the US. Back then I took photos to document my life overseas for my family.  I took rolls and rolls of film and sent them back home with lengthy letters.

Details
It was a toss-up between 2 photos so am showing off both:
I came up with this while trying to fix it.  It is an antique fountain that I fell in love with at an antique market.

This little guy was adopted from a garage sale.  I fell in love with his funky texture.  He sits on a bookshelf in the same bathroom as the fountain.

On the ground
Nothing but snow on the ground here and I’m tired of snow pics but after coming up with only vapid ideas I bowed my humble head and took these:

Out the door, down the steps,  & circle back; less than 10 feet total.

Cleo is tired of the snow, too.  This morning she refused to go any further than she had to to answer nature’s call.

Blooper: Where things don’t go as planned
I spent last weekend putting together a magazine journal for a swap.  It was getting late, I was tired of gluing and then I noticed this:

Oops!  Glued the backside of this page upside down.
I could only laugh, punch holes in it and include it in the journal.  I hope the recipient has a sense of humor!

Color
I was originally going to use this as detail but I bought this lamp because I wanted some color for my dining room.

And these are my favorite college colors (Go blue!):

Scavenging for photos for Scavenger Hunt Sunday

1.        See.  Sea. C.
Can you guess what happened here?

Some little boy got too curious and touched one of these!  Have no Fear!  Dad to the rescue!

2.      Chair
Want this chair.  Love this chair but alas, no place to put it.

Found at Hobby Lobby.  Love the patchwork fabric.
3.  Symmetry
Ever have one of those, “I should’ve had a V8”moment s?  I’ve been banging my head trying to figure out where I could go to take a photo for symmetry.  I knew the art museum would have something but I just wasn’t in the mood to drive that far for one photo (the cold & 50mph winds will tend to make you wanna stay inside these days).  I got up this morning to write this post, still thinking about that last photo.  So when in doubt Google the word and look for ideas in the photos.  BAM!  The photo has been waiting quietly all along sitting in my magazine basket next to my chair.

I color these to relieve stress, especially when my students make me want to tear my hair out.
 4. Blanket
If you want a blanket in this house you will have to fight for it.  These guys own the place, we just live here!

5. Giggle
Babies and children giggle, adults laugh.  Getting a photo for “giggle” is problematic when there are no children in the home.  What to do?  Go out in public and “borrow” someone’s.  This little guy was smitten with the Koi in the pond.  Me; I was holding my breath thinking, “Don’t drop him in the pond.  Put that coffee down so you don’t drop him in the pond!”

Scavenger Hunt Sunday

My interpretation of this week's challenge:
1.  CAMOUFLAGED
Koi staying hidden within the shadows of these pond grasses
2.  NUTTY
Discovered in a an antiques shop specializing in cookie jars
3. OLD STYLE
How many of you can name this oldie?
4. HAPHAZARD
Fliers posted on city lamp post.
5.  MONOCHROMATIC
Can you guess what this is?
I had so much fun participating in this challenge.  Yesterday was my birthday and we spent the day in Ann Arbor, going there specifically to see the Matthaei Botanical Gardens Conservatory.

Were you able to identify #3 and #5?  #3 is a stove top toaster.
#5 was taken through this:
Kaleidoscope: looking through the lens.
I had a wonderful birthday and enjoyed participating for the first time in Scavenger Hunt Sunday.
