Get up. Get dressed. Paint.

It was a dark, cold morning when I began my painting page with Rae Missigman's 15 MINUTES OF MIXED MEDIA. The snow storm was due to arrive any moment.  Go HERE to see more photos of the beautiful aftermath.

She began this week’s practice with a blank page, gluing down black and white tissue paper.  Not having any tissue paper that would give the desired pattern I opted for scrapbook paper.

She painted the leaves then scratched in the veins using the corning of an old credit card. A new technique to add to my toolbox!

 The carnage.  Not that bad this week.

I like how the black and white paper shows through the paint.

Noticing

• When I opened my MEANSTREAK stick it was dried and sticky, not usable.  It wasn’t that long ago I bought it so will have to keep track if this happens with the new one I got out.
• Once again I have more paint on the page than she does.  I watch her scrape it off and I think to myself "I just painted it on there!"   I need to force myself to work on this as it does look better with less paint. I also think the thinner paper of my journal and having to put gesso down changes how the page accepts paint.
