Working in the wee hours of the morning

My internal clock is off again which is causing all kinds of havoc.  I’m waking up daily around 1:00, that’s a.m. folks, not afternoon.  Thus, the photo of my dark desk because it’s too darn early for overheard lights to be turned on!  My circadian rhythm has been off going on a week now and I am left exhausted.  The school’s air conditioning is broken so it is hot (>80°) and humid so about 11:30 this teacher is ready for a nap.  Unfortunately, naps are frowned upon with there are student’s in the room!

Have been completing journal swaps and ATC’s.

 Let's Celebrate!

My blog will be a year old July 7th!  To celebrate, I have decided to create an altered Golden book for a giveaway.  The problem is,  I have never hosted a giveaway so I am enlisting your help.  Looking for advice, suggestions, perhaps links to your past giveaways so I can figure this out.  Biggest questions I have are when and how do I announce it?

  1. Hi Diane, thanks for the visit, I fear I am no help as this is my first year too. My blog will be one year old at the end of June. I too need to think about how to celebrate it.
Happy crafting and have a good week, Angela x

  2. Love your ATC's! How fun! I am excited for you and your blog turning 1! Mine is a little over 2 years now, and it is really so fun and the people I "meet" are what I think I love about it. I only did one giveaway, and it was before the first Christmas time and I gave away a set of handmade cards that I figured people would like and would use (have people at work always asking for them). So I just took pics and put a blog post up and a date, and had a drawing. Nothing high tech as I am very very low tech. Just depends how involved you want to get. You can share it on social media as well etc. It was fun, and the woman who won was someone who reads but doesn't craft. It was nice reading how she used them later. Not much help, but just wanted to share your excitment. Thanks for the visit! Winnie

  3. Hi Diane, in my handbag is your gorgeous ATC, it arrived this morning! I know what it's like to have your internal clock out of kilter..don't fight it, your body is taking to you. Congrats on your year of blogging. Winne is right you can just post it up on your blog. I did it last year for my 40th birthday. I love that ABC of ATC's - gorgeous. Cx

  4. Thank you for stopping by earlier! Your ATCs are amazing. I think it is wonderful that you are doing something special for your 1 year Blogging. I hit one year in April, but didn't think to do something. So, I have now suggestions, but the other girls have good ones.

  5. Ah, doesn't it just tick you off when you spring wide awake in the wee small hours....sigh. I read my Kindle, the light from it doesn't disturb my hubby and after a while, I nod off again! And yes, falling asleep in front of the students is dangerous, lol!!
If you are opening up your bloggy giveaway to folks all over the world then may I suggest something lightweight? A small journal or notebook maybe - I use notecards all the time, may be a set of 6 plus envelopes perhaps? You've got to run the competition on 7th July, that's Bloggy Law ;-)

  6. HI Diane,
And welcome to the Photography Scavenger Hunt. I just added your blog to my feedly, and I'm looking forward to following you. I think you just announce the give-away on your blog and give people a week or two to post a comment in response to the give-away post. Then pick one at random. Or at least that's what I do. I'm sure it will be great no matter how you do it.

  11. Must be the time of year. I have been waking up at 4:00 a.m. then I must read for a while to get back to sleep. I hate being hot when I sleep so that doesn't help.

  12. Gotta be hard to keep waking at that hour! I usually wake between 4 and 5 am but am asleep by 9 pm. Anyway, gorgeous ATCs! Hope you get some sleep! Happy WOYWW!

  13. Love the ATCs! I agree, keep it simple for the Blogaversary. Post a pic of the goodies to be win. Set your parameters, must a follower or just a commenter. Advise if you'll send international. Set a closing date. There's a cool widget call Ramdom.org that a lot of peeps use to do a Ramdom number draw. I just win one check out Nikki C's blog..... http://graphixanddesign.blogspot.ca

  14. Thanks for the visit. I love how you labeled your picture. Also, your ATC's are beautiful! As far as the giveaway...I would just have a post that shows a pic of the giveaway and states an end date. Then anyone who wants to enter can leave a comment. Then just write down the names and draw from a hat kinda thing...can you tell I'm NOT a computer geek...lol. Or if you are better with computers do one of the computer picks the winner things.

  15. Super ATCs and know exactly what you mean about the sleep rhythm or lack of it. I was awake at 4am this morning! Thanks for the visit BJ#26

  16. Nan had some good suggestions re parameters that I would consider a necessity. Then go with what others say, just upload to your blog, give it a couple or more week (I usually do about 4 weeks).
Lovely atc's - especially the B&W ones with a touch of red.
Hugs & Thanks for visiting me earlier - Neet xx

  18. WOW Diane, your ATC is STUNNING!!!! Just gorgeous! My nugget of advice for a giveaway is to use rafflecopter. It's free and super easy. It's at rafflecopter.com and it's a super easy way for everyone to sign up for your giveaway.

    Happy WOYWW!

  19. Hi Diane, gorgeous ATC's you have done. Re the Northern Lights, here is the post on my blog when I first did them, which also includes a link to the lady's video that gave the technique.

It is so easy, and the effects are amazing, I agree, although they tend not to look particularly special until you stamp on them, but then a lot of background techniques are like that, aren't they? Have a great week,Hugs, Shaz , now at #49 xx

  20. Hi Diane,

I'd say your clock is off! Unfortunately sometimes I don't get to sleep until around that time....

The ATCs are great! Mine are still a WIP. Next year I'm doing mine ahead of time!!! haaaa

I've had a few blog giveaways and what I did is write a post about it and give the date that you close entering. I think I requested that they leave a comment and become a follower. It's up to you. Postage overseas has gone crazy though -- so you might want to keep that in mind. Something light and fun might be better.
    Here's a link to my post: http://505whimsygirl.blogspot.com/2012/08/woyww-and-blog-candy.html

Thanks for visiting me already! I'm hoping to get all my visiting done by tomorrow!
    Happy belated WOYWW

  21. Your desk is all about the mood lighting today I have that problem every once in a while but it's from working afternoons for so long :)
With a giveaway I always ask they share my giveaway in their sidebar and sometimes I'll ask they be a follower or just leave a comment and I include a closing date makes it easy
    Hugs Nikki 45

  25. Hi Diane, I just love your A ATC, I just love ATCs with little charms!
Congrats on your upcoming anniversary! I haven't held a giveaway in awhile but maybe I should. Since I usually only post on Wednesdays nowadays, I would announce it then. Previously, I would post it separately and then link up to my giveaway post and add a picture of the giveaway in my WOYWW post. You can also let your post stay on the top of your blog by publishing the post but scheduling it for the date you will pick a winner. So, even if you write a new post, the giveaway post will remain on top (more chances visitors will see it).
Here is a past giveaway of mine - http://peggyapl.blogspot.com/2012/09/giveaway-girls.html
I just used Random.org to pick my winner.
Ramona of http://www.create-with-joy.com/ holds a lot of giveaways. She uses http://www.rafflecopter.com/ and has all sorts of ways to join the giveaway.
    Hope this helps!
    Blessings and hugs,
