The bright, cheerful colors for this week's 15 MINUTES OF MIXED MEDIA with Rae Missigman helped brighten this gloomy, gray December morning.
One of the many useful tips I learned from her is to make my own stencils and masks using old file folders. Here, I recreated one that she used in her page. Instead of using the bottom part, she used the top. I would not have thought of that. In fact, I probably would have thrown it away! This is how it looks on the page:
The carnage |
Using my fingers to paint the white then adding texture by scratching the paint with the end of a paint brush.
Laying down strips of washi tape, painting over them with white paint then making marks with black paint marker.
Looking at a new painting journey
I have 2 pages left to paint in this journal and I will
begin another. I am excited! I missed only 1 Saturday morning painting
appointment with myself since starting this journey in March; it was while on vacation
out west.
I am going to continue painting with Rae Missigman but I
want to explore intuitive painting after experiencing it during THIS
painting session. In anticipation of this exploration, I purchased:
·
Intuitive Painting Workshop: Techniques, Prompts and Inspiration for a Year of Painting
by Alena Henness
- Paint Mojo: A mixed Media Workshop by Tracy Verdugo
What painting do you plan to commit to as we near the new year? Are you going to participate in one of the many online classes or projects or have you made a commitment to learning something new?
Paint Party Friday
