My desk in the early morning light with Allistair napping in the better part of it. I had to continuously push his tail aside to keep from getting it glued to the art journal.
I bought this paper stack with the intention of creating a summer art
journal. I have been tucking things away
to put into it but did not have the inclination until this week to actually get
it started. I glued
scrapbook paper onto all of the pages except a handful in the middle in case I find
something else I want to use. This is
the first time approaching an art journal like this. Generally I complete one 2 page spread at a
time but because I’m getting such a late start I decided to try this approach.

Swapping
ABC letter ATCs - J: Joy |
I am catching up on the swaps I missed to have a the complete alphabet set. My partner liked the color purple and beading (not my thing) but I had a go at incorporating both for her ATC.

A request
I am creating an altered book for my oldest son,
Thayer. Because his name is so unusual
he could never buy any of those trinkets with his name on it found in souvenir
shops.
I am asking folks to search their town's directory for a
street sign or a business with his name in it, snap a photo and send it to me
(either snail mail or email).
* If you know how to get the coordinates via the GPS on your
phone that would be great, otherwise just the name of the town &
state/ country.

He has found a cozy space, I don't blame him for wanting to be near that pretty paper. You've got lots of lovely crafting going on. Happy WOYWW! Susanne #45
ReplyDeleteI love that photo showing the pages of the journal--I don't know why scrapbook papers make me so happy, but those are so gorgeous all together in one journal. So summery too. I also have my crafty kitty in the photo this week--can't imagine crafting without a kitty either at my feet or on my desk! Happy WOYWW! Sandy Leigh #38
ReplyDeleteLol at your cat! Aren't they great at being in the wrong place? Adore the purple card, one of my favourite colours, and some of those scrapbook papers are amazing- the butterflies really caught my eye. Have a great week, Hugs, Shaz #11 xxx
ReplyDeleteHehe - I have a helper of that kind, too :D Gotta love them! Your pages are just gorgeous.

ReplyDeleteI am a subscriber to your blog via email, and I enjoy every time I see a post from you in my inbox. I am sorry I don't comment more regularly, I do want you to know how much I love your work and what you write! I think the book you created with the scrapbook paper is lovely and I can't wait to see how it turns out.
ReplyDeleteI had to comment today because my name is Maureen, so I feel for Thayer because I could never buy things with my name in them either. In fact, it because a thing in my family, if you see anything with my name on it, you have to buy it because it is so rare! I will look around the Atlanta area for Thayer and see if I can find anything to help!
Have a great day and thanks for always making my day!
Maureen
Cool idea. My kids felt the same way.

The journal is beautiful and you've done a lovely job with the ATCs.
ReplyDeleteHi Diane, just saw your comment on my Brusho post about the Ken Oliver Colour Bursts. If it's any help with your choice, Dini, from Splitcoast Stampers did a great video( and blog post) about these powders, encompassing about 4 brands. Link to it here,http://mamadinis.blogspot.com.au/2015/07/watercolor-powder-products.html
ReplyDeleteShe compares there attributes, as well as the colour ranges available, and costs. A very useful read. Hugs, Shaz xxx
Hullo Diane, love your two final artwork, the last I like better though,... Art journaling is too challenging for me, never good at ongoing things ...except reading my bible now come to think of it :)
ReplyDelete...mm, sorry can't think of ever seeing anything with Thayer in it...
Have you thought of googling Thayer in a Google images?? Reckon you should get some there.
Happy WOYWW, thanks for popping over, Shaz in Oz.x #20
