Welcome to where I create!
My space is bright and colorful, full of sunlight. I painted my walls
green and orange because I needed a space to counteract the negative, highly
violent, stressful atmosphere of my career which is teaching science in an inner city high school. The color green is the color of balance, harmony
and growth while the color
psychology of orange is optimistic and uplifting, rejuvenating for the spirit. This creates a places for me to wind down, let go of the stressors of teaching.
This is my worktable, all nice and tidy as my "supervisor" Allistair decided to take a nap and pushed everything over the side in order to curl up. The three windows allow a lot of sunlight in but because I do most of creating in the early hours of the morning, I don't get to enjoy it as much as I would like.
Meet Allistair, my supervisor. |
Ordinarily, this is what my desk looks like!
Computer |
A wonderful rocking chair to sit and enjoy a good book. |
This is directly behind my desk. Tools, letter stamps, ribbons, paint, and books all within easy reach. My Dreamboard is hung above it with the altered rolodex which is a work in progress.
I love books and am somewhat of a bibliophile. This is just a small selection of all my books.
Thank you for stopping by
and visiting my wonderful work space. I
would love for you to come back for another visit when time allows to see my
art journals, altered books, and ATC’s.
Linking up today with the
Desert Cottage and Where Bloggers Create 2014.
Love your colors, and the lanterns are so playful.
ReplyDeleteStopping by via Karen's. Thx for sharing.
We are much alike but my creative room is not quite that tidy. It is a mess lately with my painting, canvas piles, sketch books and piles and piles of books. Awww, but it is "My Room" so I can be messy. I too have a chair to read or blog or just sleep if I want. I love my space, my pink room! Love you space. I really do need to organize again!
ReplyDeleteI love that hanging that looks sort of Indian and sort of patchworky!
ReplyDeleteGreat space. I love the colors. I have some paper latterns I wanted to hang before the tour and didn't get around to it. I love yours. Thanks for sharing your beautiful space!
ReplyDeleteI linked my little sewing room in a closet! Come see me.
I love the bright colors. It looks like a wonderful place to create PLUS you managed to fit in a chair for relaxing. Sweet!

ReplyDeleteI so love the colour of your new room it looks like fun and full of energy to create but most of all Allistair has seriously got some beautiful colour himself he is so beautiful. I can see he would be a challenge to create with, constantly advising you what to use and not use. Like mine he just pushes the stuff you shouldn't have away. I hope you have a wonderful week.
Hugs Eliza
Diane I think it's really cool that you used Science to help you choose the colors for your space!!!
ReplyDeleteMy studio is always a mess while I am in the middle of a project too. It gets cleaned up between each project or I'd never find anything!! Allistair is very handsome and I bet he loves to keep you company in there! Thanks so much for joining the party! I enjoyed my visit!!
Love your creative space Diane. Those lanterns add so much whimsy to your space. Love that. Love your use of color. So pretty.

My "Allistair" is named a Scrappy and he enjoys getting into the middle of everything as well. It's a cat thing I suppose ;-). He once walked right over an art journal page I had just Gesso'd and I had to run after him to clean off his paws and get gesso off of everything! I will definitely be back to check out your art journals and other creations. Thanks for the tour of your room.
ReplyDeleteThose fun, bright colors are exactly what you need. What a great space to create in.
ReplyDeleteI always love my visit to your room, Diane. I think it is a place of organized chaos with lots of evidence of your warm creativity busting out of you in so many ways! Hugs, Darnell
ReplyDeleteI think it's great you've got colors going on in your creative space that help counter what stresses you deal with during the day, Diane. LOL - at the work in progress on your work space. Don't all our spaces look like that in real life! One of the good things about Karen's linky is that it forces us all to get it together. : )
ReplyDeleteI just painted over the orange in my room- it didn't really go with the way the room seemed to be going but I loved it! I love the green too gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteOh what fun, very nice :) My kind of stuff ; )
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice space you have to create in. I'm going to look around your blog now. Thanks for visiting my blog to see my woodworking shop.
ReplyDeleteGreen and orange and light-filled - how wonderful! What a perfectly vibrant place to activate that right brain and play creatively. Thanks for this delightful tour.
ReplyDeleteI love the colors and that orange is at the top of the room. It really does seem like it would be uplifting to be in there! Thank you for the tour!
ReplyDeleteWhat a playful and inspiring space! I had painted one of the walls in my old studio orange too!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing!
Tammy
Very cheerful space for creating and the colors are so uplifting. Thanks for inviting us in. I am Janet from Graceful Rose.
ReplyDeleteAllistair is so handsome! Love your bright cheerful space - I can see why you would want to retreat there after a hard day's work. (love the photo labels!)
ReplyDeleteThank you for coming to the party so we could enjoy your room and meet Allistair too!
Your creative space and your assistant are both wonderful!
ReplyDeleteColour is always important to where you work and its all about finding both inner peace and creative mood in one and you have done that with your colours (I find blues, turquoise and oranges are my colours (with a splash of green). You done a great job creating that very special place for you and for your supervisor Allistair, lol... he's one cute office staff : )
ReplyDeleteYour space definitely is bright and cheery! Perfect for bringing happiness. I can't imagine the stress teaching science in high school would be! Visiting from the where bloggers create party.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Jann
What a bright and fun creative space. Love how your cat is laying right in the middle of it! My sweet Pomerians are always under foot in my studio. But I love that they want to be with me there. Thanks for popping over and commenting on my studio.
