Good afternoon from a very chilly Michigan!
Yesterday was difficult as the boys had gone their separate ways
and I found the house to be very quiet and empty after the whirlwind of
activity with all of them being home. It
was just me, the dog, and the cats. They
were all catching up on their naps as they didn't get much in with the boys
coming and going and teasing/playing with them.
Because my office is off the guest bedroom, I wasn't able to
go there to create every morning and I truly missed that creative time alone.
I had a hard time getting my creative juices flowing
yesterday. I hate being behind as I
start feeling overwhelmed then get little accomplished. I decided to start with this week’s SOC
challenge.
Color pallet this week is Raspberry & Tangerine
with a Smudge, Splash or Pop of Lemon. I
had no idea where to start but I remembered reading to just lay down some color
to get rid of the blank white paper so I sprayed some Dylusions ink spray in bubblegum
pink and squeezed orange. I pulled some scrapbook papers and Golden fiber paste
but I wanted something different for this collage. I opted for crumpled tissue paper
instead. I just purchased a Martha
Stewart vine paper punch and wanted to incorporate that and the photo I took of
the pink phlox.
This is the layout I created in the Clown journal for Your Turn In My
Art Journal:
Top: ART: Letter E Rolo (Global) Bottom: ATC of ABCs: #5 |
FUN collage - and so pretty and vibrant! Nice job!
ReplyDeleteLove your colorful page with this weeks yummy colors. The clown spread is adorable too. Well done when you first got to start.
ReplyDeleteWell that is top advice about just laying down some colour to get over the blank page, makes a lorra sense doesn't it. I love the SOc page you came up with, seems that however quiet the house becomes, you have your creativity for company!
ReplyDeleteJust love those colours! I must remember 'just lay down some color to get rid of the blank white paper' good advice I think. Happy WOYWW Anne x #20
ReplyDeleteSo glad you had a good time with the boys. Looks like your creative juices are flowing again. Quite the drastic change in temperatures isn't it. Mallory left her winter coat home when she was home last week. This week she wishes she had it up in Empire.
ReplyDeleteYour creative room is awesome! And the page you made with this week's SOC colors is absolutely beautiful! It is the perfect use of these colors! I love the other creations you made this week, too. Thank you for sharing your talents with us these past weeks of SOC. HUGs!!
ReplyDeleteIt must have been wonderful to have the boys back! Good job getting back into being creative, Diane, even as overwhelming as it is when you get behind. I'd say your juices got to flowing again pretty fabulously once you got started! Great photo of Zachary and Cleopatra!! TFS! Happy WOYWW and have a wonderful week! Thanks for stopping by the Playhouse! Hugs, Darnell #18
ReplyDeleteIt is always nice having the family around and so quiet when they all leave. You have made some really beautiful journal pages, love how you have put them together.

I too love my quiet time and especially my quiet creative time. When I have a house full I make sure I get up early in the morning and find a quiet place to sit and have coffee and just have peace. It isn't that I don't like people or family lol, it's just that I like my own company too! I'll share some of my latest photographs soon! Thanks for the visit!

I share my workdesk with the guest bedroom so I know what you mean! How lovely to have your boys home though, I look forward to when my eldest comes back from Uni...I'm dreading the day when the youngest flies the nest as well.....
ReplyDeleteLOVE that in your face pink and orange...gorgeous :-)
Hugs, LLJ 15 xx
My youngest daughter will be joining my oldest in college this fall, so my wife and I will soon understand what it is to have an empty nest. I like everything you've worked on, especially the beautiful page for the SOC color challenge. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteGlad you got back to creating after enjoying some family time. After time off it seems the best thing to do is just dive right in. Cute picture of your son with Cleopatra.

Pleased you are able to get back to your crafting but sure you will miss them.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by at mine and pleased you liked my new distressing tool.
Happy crafting till next time, Angela x # 42
Hi Diane,
ReplyDeleteI've heard that about white paper too. I remember even as a kid it was hard for me to "mess up" that beautiful white pad! The colors you've chosen are great, though, and it's coming along nicely. I love the rolodex card - very cool!
Thank you for visiting me already!
Happy WOYWW
Peace, Kay (22)
You have lovely work here! (And I enjoyed seeing your son and the dog. Real animal lover here --- we have chickens, donkeys, and a dog here on the farm.)
ReplyDeleteHello from rainy Philippines! That is a wonderful color palette and I love your mixed media piece. That is good advice to just start by covering the white! It sure worked well, based on what you made!
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW!

ReplyDeleteLove your zingy pink and orange (two colours I used for a challenge published yesterday) and your little Cleopatra is adorable. Son is good looking too. LOL 'cos I can get away with flirting now I am old.
