We found ourselves woken by the weather radio ~2:50 am
Tuesday. Severe storms were coming through
with high winds and hail. Quickly, we got
up and brought the plants in and folded up the lawn chairs. When the storm passed
overhead, the flashes of lightening and crashes of thunder were one right after
the other. I couldn't go back to sleep
so I had gone to my office to paint but had the flashlight with me in case the
electricity went out.
It’s at these times when I worry about George.
He still comes by for his early morning bowl of
milk and food. I asked his guardian
angel to keep him safe, and find him a dry, warm place to wait out the storm. He
arrived just after it passed, dry and hungry.
I am always on the lookout for humorous signs. I found this one in a local pub. I had to think about it for a moment for the
humor in it to sink in.
It seems when company is expected, all the little things
that we (I) have been putting off
doing/fixing suddenly become very noticeable and urgent. The lamp with the broken globe, the stain on
the carpet where I spilt coffee, the piles on my desk, the weeds by the pond…. Both of my older boys are coming home this
week; the first time we will all be together in ~ 10 years. Suddenly,
everything I've been putting off needs to be done. Why did I keep putting them off? Wish I hadn't. Anybody
willing to help weed around the pond?
I was sorting through old pictures and stumbled on
this. It makes me laugh every time. Background:
When I was a single parent, every year I splurged for my birthday and we
went to a hotel with a pool and had a Jacuzzi in the room. The boys loved it! I enjoyed it because they wore themselves out
and I could sleep in the next morning! Can
you guess which one is now the Marine?
*Disclaimer: This was taken as
a way to remember a special occasion; it is not meant to be pornographic in any
way. All
3 boys are wearing swim trunks.

Wonderful photos, the drinks one is rather funny. Glad the storm past by without causing any damage. Enjoy your time with your boys visiting, it's always the way to do jobs at the last minute.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely photo of your little men! Isn't it funny how they all love messing about in jacuzzis? Glad the storm passed without doing any damage and that Mr George made it back without mishap. Have a lovely 4th July weekend with your family. All the best, Bonny
ReplyDeleteLove the story and photo about going to a hotel with Jacuzzi! Glad kitty was safe after all the storm activity. Have a lovely time with your family gathering!
ReplyDeleteGlad the storm passed by and both of you ... and George were safe ...
ReplyDeleteI do understand about things putting off doing, but time flies and before you know
another day has passed ... :-)
Have a wonderful time with your family !
Sylvia
Good that George survived the storm ... He must be tired and needing a rest now!
ReplyDeleteHappy 4th of July to you!
I feel that same urgency whenever we go on vacation. Like...oh I should have gotten that done before we left. The idea of coming home to unfinished projects is not that great.
ReplyDeleteAnimals know when to run for cover it is an instinct for them, but needless to say we still worry about them. I bet he is glad to be home.
ReplyDeleteSorry had to do this post in two stages because the iPad won't co-operate. It is also sad to think we need to apologise for innocent photos of children, because out there some one will crucify you for it. I didn't think any thing about the children until you mentioned it.
ReplyDeleteI am a school teacher and you can just imagine the headlines... Back when this photo was taken, no one thought anything about it other than what it was. In today's times, someone inevitably will take offense, which I don't care about BUT that one person can also decide to ruin your life over something so innocent so they can get their name in the headlines.
