Post Spring Break Finds

Being the geeky science teacher that I am, rocks just fascinate me.  I remember seeing these exposed sections of rock strata as a child when our family drove to Mammoth Caves in Kentucky.  I made a point of finding out that these thick layers of limestone and shale deposits are part of the Ordovician Period, which began 485.4 million years ago.  And yes, one of these rocks did make it into the car and will be planted in our garden.

I never have room for dessert but I discovered that it’s okay to have it “to go”.

Everglades: evidently one has to be on the look out for things other than alligators!

Learning something new at the Atlanta Zoo
Finding fun signs along the way is another favorite photographic past time of mine. Florida seemed to be a gold mine for them.

Okay, I am too old for the t-shirt but I gave myself permission to indulge in some fun cocktails.

The coveted coconut drink.

The haunting look of the moss hanging from the trees fascinated me.

While we did not indulge in much relaxing (too much sightseeing to partake in), simply getting away from the stress of work was an exercise in relaxation.  The smell of the ocean air and eating in open-air restaurants was  revitalizing and rejuvenating.  Ahhh....

Joining the fun of sharing our week’s finds with Kim Klassen at Friday Finds.

  6. Diane, We are a family of geeky science nerds, though we usually refer to ourselves as nature and book lovers. We stop for rocks, too. Gorgeous view and lovely layers of texture - the wonders of nature amaze me, so simple and elegant. Love the sign about using children as bait! So happy for you that you were able to have this break from the stress of everyday life. Happy Easter!
