Blooming Paper Flowers & Hearts

         conducting research
While wasting time on Pinterest I found this fabulous pin for Super-Simple, Vintage Paper Punch Flowers by Adirondack Girl @ Heart.  They looked fun & easy but I didn't have any need for them so I pinned it into my More Things to make than I have time for… board.
With school closed for the past two days due to the wind chill I had time to catch up on completing several of my swaps.  I discovered that I had signed up for a half a dozen involving hearts or Valentine’s day ATC’s.  To save time, I wanted to make them all at the same time.  I found this heart ATC which I really liked and decided to use as a template.  In lieu of the fabric flower (which I did not have) I remembered I pinned that paper flower and thought it would be a perfect substitute.  I needed them to be smaller to fit on the ATC so I used a 1.5" punch.  For the paper I used the white pages in an old phone book.  I followed her instructions and voila!

To make the hearts I used a corrugated cardboard stack for dimension.  To make the ridges stand out even more I rubbed the hearts with Dylusions ink.  I wanted the note to look as though it were written on a tiny chalkboard so I wrote the message on black paper, cut it out then took my white pen and outlined the edges.

Completed ATC's

While they were all made using the same process you can see they each have their own differences.  The heart at the top on the left was for a Glittery Valentine swap so I added some red glitter paint to the heart, the flower and the brad.  I also outlined the black heart with a Sakura Stardust Gellyroll red pen.

Glimpse into My Life Smash Book #14

I recently discovered this group and decided to join in on the fun as a way of pushing my boundaries/comfort zone in allowing other’s to see my work.
Each round has four topics, but we only need to complete two for our book and they can be interpreted as we wish- with art, photos, journaling, or smash in some ephemera or other scraps to tell our story. We then email photos of our completed pages to other members.  There is also a Flickr Group in which to upload our photos to and see other member’s pages.

My page for a deco swap:
Easy Breezy Deco swap: green & red themed

According to Swap-bot, decos are:  a bound book of pages which are sent around the world.  The person that the book is “for” is usually listed on the cover and when the book becomes full it is sent back to them.  Each person that receives and signs the deco will decorate one page according to the theme of the booklet (if there is one) and put their postal/email address and sign their name.  Glitter, sequins, feathers and other scrapbooking supplies are frequently used.

  2. Hi Diane--I love your "take" on the vintage paper flowers from my post--your cards are lovely. We have a lot in common--I also have right-left brain issues. I'm a lawyer by trade, but I've recently experienced both the other side of 50 and a renewed passion for all things creative. Thanks for linking to my site :)

    1. Thank you so much for sharing your creative side. I have learned in the last 6 months that blogs and Pinterest have made a positive impact on many of us who do not view ourselves as "creative" but it's still okay to try.
