What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday

Here's my creative mess. Taken in the midst of creating several thank you cards. Still pursuing my goals for 2017, working on my layering, incorporating my photographs in my art and creating more RAK's.  The photograph for the second card is setting to the left of all that ribbon. The wooden letters are left from a journal spread, waiting to be cleaned and put away (a job I despise and will continue putting off).  The heat tool is pointing to an envie I made from my underpaper.

Here is a close up of the card & envie:

Using that painty underpaper for wrapping mail!

A dirty little secret that doesn't show up in my desk shots....
basket of odds and ends of scrap paper and ribbon.  Overflowing and needs to be cleaned out. Not sure what to make with it as collage just isn't my thing.  Do you have one of these?  What do you do with it all?

Joining up with What’s onYour Workdesk? Wednesday where desk snooping is not only allowed but all part of the fun!

  1. Nothing like a basket of odds and ends, we all have them - somewhere. LOL Love what you have done with the photo for the card. BJ#9

  2. I don't know any crafters that don't have bit boxes/crates lol. I recently did an art journal page with some of mine as the prompt was use your scraps. It actually came out really well and I shared it on my blog. I love the matching card and envelope with all the texture and layers. What a great use of your painty under paper too. Sarah #4

  3. Hi Diane _ I came across a lovely technique where you print out greyscale and watercolour pencil and ink the photo, looked for the link for you and couldn't find it... love what you did with your landscape... Dxxx #17

  4. What a fantastic desk and studio! All good ideas can come to one who has a little bit of what other people call mess- we artists call that:
    Ideas floating around!
    Fabulous art!!!
    Happy Wednesday!

  5. Lovely creative mess, Diane! We all have those overflowing boxes full of scrap. I use them for collage - perhaps we have a different concept of collage, but I think collage is very much your thing too! Whatever you stick down for texture or imagery is collage in my interpretation, even if you cover it up with paint later. Happy WOYWW! zsuzsa #22

  6. Love how you are incorporating your photos in your cards, make sit even more personal. Awesome envie by the way. I have piles and piles of leftovers, from time to time I sit down and glue them down a large piece of paper, fun and relaxing to; then I can cut it up or use as is. Happy WOYWW Vicky #23

  8. Hi Diane, love your basket of odds and ends! Yes, we all have one, and I expect, like most, mine just gets emptied out, tidied, and put back! I do indeed need to name my little penguin, not sure what yet though. Love your bright underpaper- its awesome. Lovely card too. Have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #6 XxX

  10. Wonderful! Love the photo. It's really gorgeous. Using my photos is something I'm trying to work on - as well as properly learning how to use my camera

  11. I stick all the bits and bobs onto an A4 sheet of paper and then incorporate it into my cards as background paper. Gets it out of the way, makes a thick almost card, can be painted etc. AND it's free!
    Love the finished card.
    Have a good week

  12. Love the basket of scraps - I'm sure we all have one in the corners of our work spaces! The photo is gorgeous and I love the bright underpaper - what a great idea!
Hope you have a great week,

  13. Your tree picture is simply stunning. What beautiful colours you have used, it glows.
The basket of scraps will come in so useful for the type of artwork you do, be careful if you decide to tidy up one day.

ps you left your number out on WOYWW so I couldn't find you for ages. Got here in the end though.

  15. I think we all have one of those overflowing baskets! LOL! When it gets to the point yours is at, I give it a glance to see if there is anything I want, then close my eyes, take a deep breath, and dump it in the recycling. It's only paper. Your tree photo is awesome, and I love the simplicity of your Hello card! Thanks for sharing, Lindart #38

  16. My trash basket is a fairly large kitchen sized can so it does take some time to fill but yes, it can overflow at times. LOL! Beautiful card! Love the photo on it! Thanks for the visit and I hope you have a great rest of the week!

  17. Hi Diane, I love your card.

Wrapping the mail in such a colourful paper is great. Here (England) they don't like you using anything other than plain colours, as they reckon it plays havoc with their automated system.

Have to ask.....What gnawed your shelf end?

Thanks for stopping by my blog. You didn't leave your number, but I tracked you down:)

  19. I have a scrap pile too. I punch shapes from them and recently started making random borders/embellishments by layering pieces. Most times I end up tossing and wondering why I saved them in the first place. LOL. Dorlene #37

  20. I think you should come round to mine Lol! Diane, I have a much bigger box of odds and ends than that and I know they will come in useful sometime because I keep telling myself they will Lol! Happy woyww, Angela x24x

  21. You made me smile, admitting to the fact that you put off cleaning and putting the letters away!! Only because I'm the world's worst at prevaricating too :-D. I really love the card and envelope and especially the wrapping made from the underpaper - that is so pleasing!

  22. I love your scratch paper being used for wrapping, Diane - I often use mine as photographic backgrounds. I love the card too. As for the basket of scraps, I've got so many scraps of this and that and always keep them "in case they come in useful" - is that the classic motto of the hoarder lol? Thank you for your great comment - I hadn't really thought that what I was doing was a tutorial - more a record of what I did, so I don't forget! It's great if others can make use of it, though. I haven't had a chance (lack of time and energy) to get in the studio this week as there's a lot of other stuff I'm dealing with at the moment, so I haven't joined in WOYWW.

  24. My word that card is lovely, what a great way to use your fab photography. I'm rubbish at cleaning too..it takes up precious desk time! Genius way to use the desk paper, it looks amazing. I have learned about myself...I never use the ends of ribbon etc, so I don't keep them. But I do keep paper scraps, upright in a box that is supposedly in colour order......!

  25. Ha... oh yes! I have a 'basket' like yours (in my case it's an old shoe-box) and I use the bits and snippets to make small collages (tiny art journals) or ATCs... thanks for visiting my desk last week (yep, I'm late with visiting back) Love from Holland, Marit #13
