Get up. Get dressed. Paint.: Simplicity quote

Page began with a quote from a Simplicity Desk Calendar. It was a week full of discouragement; leaving the teaching day feeling beaten, worthless and broken-down.

In my heart I know I am nearing the end of a career I loved  but is now nothing more than testing, documenting (CYA), and babysitting.

This Tree Poem stamp was the perfect addition with the brown paper bringing out the brown wood left of the door. The mica chips conceal the corner of the quote while adding texture.

I first tried to emboss the stamp on tissue paper but it didn't turn out because the paper was too wrinkled.  I tore some of the words and used them for layering. Will be using this as a new layering technique.

What messages did your heart send you this week?  Are you actually listening? Please share so we can encourage each other to follow where our hearts are leading us.

Creating in my Listen to My Heart Art Journal using dylusions 8" x 8" creative journal while working on my layering techniques.

  1. I love what you have done with the calendar photo and that beautiful and true quote! The colors and the detailed but not overpowerded layout speak to me!
You even found a new interesting layering technique by creating this - super!

  4. This is absolutely gorgeous!!! It really touched my heart! I am nearing the end of my nursing career - and to me, it has become an endless barrage of unhappy people, ungrateful doctors, and drama among co-workers. UGH! Perhaps these things existed when I was younger, but was able to cope better? I loved your page, Daine. and want to thank you for sharing.
