WARNING! WARNING! WARNING! MESSY DESK SIGHTING!!!
How did this happen???? How did it get so messy in just one week? Answer: I found myself with too many deadlines in a short period of time and simply went from one project to another without having time to clean in between. It was also the end of the first marking period so grades were due. The dining room table was covered with papers waiting to be graded (ugh).
You can see I've gotten behind in my cleaning. Normally I am a clean-as-you-go gal (thanks to the diligent training of my mom) but I literally was working on several things at one time, each in various drying stages to meet deadlines. Obviously, my under paper needs changing. You can't see it but there is dried modeling paste all over from pushing it through stencils.
ATC of ABCs: #17 "Q"

Mixed Media ATC Swap: black & white |
This is the last one of a series of 9. I missed blue so will be participating in the
make-up round but rather glad to be done with it. I have decided I will no long be creating
many ATC’s but rather focusing on filing up my Rolodex and working in my neglected journals.
I spent much of my time getting my Stop Pinning & Make Something
link party up and running. So much work and quite the learning curve. I still haven't got the tabs inserted at the top of my blog. After 3+ hours of trying to figure it out I gave up!
I checked and I have joined in on WOYWW 35 times now. So thankful to have found this meme and all the wonderful, encouraging people there. Thank you Julia for being such an awesome hostess!

A messy desk is far more interesting to look at, so don't feel guilty. Thank you for your visit today. This is the description of gouache paints which are a form of water colour - Gouache paint is similar to watercolor but modified to make it opaque. A binding agent, usually gum arabic, is present, just as in watercolor. Gouache differs from watercolor in that the particles are larger, the ratio of pigment to water is much higher, and an additional, inert, white pigment such as chalk may also be present. This makes gouache heavier and more opaque, with greater reflective qualities.[1] Gouache generally dries to a different value than it appears when wet (lighter tones generally dry darker, while darker tones tend to dry lighter), which can make it difficult to match colors over multiple painting sessions. Its quick coverage and total hiding power mean that gouache lends itself to more direct painting techniques than watercolor.[2] "En plein air" paintings take advantage of this, as do works of J.M.W. Turner and Victor Lensner. It is used most consistently by commercial artists for works such as posters, illustrations, comics, and for other design work. Most 20th-century animations used it to create an opaque color on a cel with watercolor paint used for backgrounds, and gouache as "poster paint" is desirable for its speed and durability." It is certainly proving an interesting project. Hope you got all your deadlines met. Have a good week. xx Maggie #20
ReplyDeleteHi Diane, love all your pieces. The ATC for 'Q' is nicely different. the tabs at the top of the blog should appear automatically when you add new pages, by the way. Have a great week, Hugs, Shaz #27 xx
ReplyDeleteDiane what lovely pieces you've created, I do like the mixed media though. My desk looked like that the other day, I had to tidy just to find a spare space

I love your ATCs. I've never done one myself. It seems really difficult as they are so small.

Such beautiful art! Loved your heading tho - my table looks like that so often! lol
ReplyDeleteIt can happen from tidy to messy in what seems the snap of the fingers your black n white A T C is wild looking so much going on and figuring out what to do with Q would have been tough to do happy WOYWW hugs Nikki 1
ReplyDeleteYour work is lovely! Thanks so much for sharing photos. Your post card is fantastic and I love the creativity with your ATCs. (Q would be a tricky one!)
ReplyDeleteI don't know if this will help, but we both use blogger, so maybe... To add tabs at the top of my page, I went to Pages and selected New Page. The title of the page is the title that appears on the tab. In Layouts, I have a "Pages" section beneath the header. This allows the page tabs to show beneath my header. (I had a page go missing once and discovered there is an "edit" spot within this "Pages" section. Clicking on that, I discovered one page was somehow unchecked, so it did not show up. With a click of the mouse, it reappeared.) I hope this info may help you!
If I had a nice long desk like yours, mine would probably look just like that ALL THE TIME. Right now the floor of my craft room looks much like that as I needed to spread out for a few projects. Today might be a cleaning day! Your projects are all lovely. I especially like your black and white piece. Something about the upcycled looking materials catches my eye. NIcely done!!
ReplyDeleteI notice an ATC on this page! And its MINE, all MINE! Bwaaaa ha ha haaaaa!
ReplyDeleteAnywho, nice work here!
