In keeping with my resolution to work on my own projects
this year, on my desk you will find page 1 of my art journal “Anatomy of My
Thoughts”.
When I stumbled upon this
book I had an “Ahaa moment”. A “That’s
it! That’s what I have been trying to do!”
moment. My heart raced as I finally
found the style of art journaling I was trying to express.
A Year of Altered Books: January: Simple page.
I joined this year long course because of my love for
working in altered books and using paint.
One thing I learned about myself last year is that I love to paint. I can’t paint an image not even a basic
flower but I made the decision to not let that stop me.
Directions were to keep the page simple; creating a
background, layering ONE figure on it, and then using some of the new
techniques she taught us to finish the page. No embellishments or lumpy
extras---just paints, and your figure. This is hard considering most of my work
looks like this:
I am still swapping but I cut WAY back. I have a few ATC and Rolodex series that I enjoy
and I belong to several art journal round robins but other than that I now am
working on projects simply for myself.
Happily rejoining in with What’s
On Your Workdesk? Wednesday.
I think we all go through stages of what we enjoy doing at any given point in time. I like dimensional projects, but I also like pages with just paint. Art journalling should always be about you. I find at the moment I still need the prompts and challenges and guidance, but I'm sure that will change in the future when I can be more independent. Love your pages and your new art journal. Love the Rolodex and ATC especially the purple one. I am just getting into art journaling seriously this year. I find it the most relaxing of all the crafts that I do! Have a great week. Vickie #31
ReplyDeleteWonderful projects! Great variety too.
ReplyDeleteI love your page! I love the movement that you feel through the whole thing. It doesn't feel simple or under-embellished at all. It is just totally different from what you usually do. Never fear, both styles can still be you. Enjoy journaling! Judy #76
