DLP Week Three: COLOR!

January Theme: The Blank Page and How to Face It!
January 17 Art Challenge:  The Color Wheel
Journal Prompt:  "I found I could say things with color and shapes that I couldn’t say any other way .”- Georgia O’Keefe

When I think of color I think flowers, whether in an arrangement or in the garden, flowers brighten my world.
I looked through these two coloring books for ideas.

I used torn bits of Tim Holtz idea-ology tissue wrap as a background.  To make it blend in with the planner pages I used small drops of the same color paints swirling them around with my finger then blotting with paper towel.  I remember learning from Rea Missingman to make the colors pop by stenciling or stamping white over them.

As this dried I colored the flowers with PRISMACOLOR pens.

Tip: PRISMACOLOR pens come in two tip choices: broad and brush.  I prefer the brush tip as it is easier to color in detailed areas.  These pens do tend to bled on paper and cardstock.
brush tip – Scarlet Lake, broad tip – Crimson Red

I cut out the flowers, played with the arrangement then glued them down with matte medium.
I doodled over them with a white gel pen and colored the center of the flowers with a Sakura glaze pen
This is the entire week’s layout.

  2. I LOVE your colourful work! I've got some journals started and was thinking it would be nice to work in them again. You have encouraged me to do just that. Years ago a few friends and I did three art journal round robins. They were great fun. Thank you for visiting my blog! I'm a new follower.
