The Great Purge Part 2

A delicious mess!  This is all the wonderful stuff I decided to keep after going through my stash of ephemera from swaps, magazine tear outs, and daily finds ( see The Great Purge Part 1). I have a SMASH book but never seemed to get around to getting this stuff "smashed" into it.  My resolve to purge, organize, and simplify lead me to getting this UFO off my To-Do list.

I found this cute little book on the discard table in the school library.  For some unknown reason I was drawn to it (had to have it) but then it just sat in my room...until this week.

I remembered THIS pin on one of my Altered Book Inspiration board on Pinterest.

I tore out about a third of the pages.

Then started gluing and taping...

A treasured Mother's Day card in the shape of a cat and an origami girl

This bookmark makes me laugh every time!

One of my favorite Maxines from an old calendar with 2 of my favorite coffees

flip open the mail art to find a stack of papers and cards hidden beneath

Getting thick!

What UFO's are you tackling or putting off this week?

Joining up with What’s onYour Workdesk? Wednesday where desk snooping is not only allowed but all part of the fun!

  1. Well done. That book looks great. I have loads started ha ha - I do need to used up some of my "experiments" and turn them into cards. Have a great week . Soojay 27

  2. Oh, I really love what you've done to that's made such a unique piece of art. I think it's great that papercrafters use old books..they'd only go into landfill or be pulped. Why not use them to create something new?
    Hugs, LLJ 16 xx

  3. I hear you about the de-stashing. I have been working on that too. Love your little book. Glad you put it to use. Peg R 23

  4. What a fun project! The book is looking great! My UFO is a scrapbook of my grandson's first 10 years (He'll be 10 in October) They are coming to Spain at the endo of September. That is when it should be finished. I have only done 4 page so far! Aargh!
    Have a great week,

  5. Hi Diane, your package arrived- Thank you so much! That looks like an amazing project. De-stashing- what stuff you find when you do that. I find stuff I'd completely forgotten I had, how awful is that? Have a great week, Hugs, Shaz #7 xx

  6. Wow! You just got and do it..itsfab, you must be really pleases! What with that and the end of the great destash in sight...actually, you can be smug!

  7. That is very cool but I don't think I would have the courage to do that to the book. I would have to read it and put on a shelf. I collect old books so there you go. It's really cool, my daughter would LOVE it.

  8. What a little treasure you have created there. So many memories tucked into what would otherwise remain to get dusty on a shelf, unloved. x Jo
