WOYWW: paint disappointment

My work space was busy over the weekend.  In the midst of creating another page in the Texture art journal there is Distress paint in peeled paint and shabby shutters with new purchases of Distress crackle paint in matching colors.  I was eager to use the new crackle paints but imagine my disappointment when I opened the first jar to find this:
Dried out paint.  My heart sank with disappointment.

This is what it should look like; smooth and drippy.  I altered my plan and completed the page just using the shabby shutters crackle paint.

I love the look on the torn paper and the leaves.

  1. Hi Diane...oh wow I would be so disappointed too.. I hope you can get it replaced. But must say your journal page is wonderful - lots of texture and love the old photo. Have a great week Cheers RobynO#35

  2. That's a brilliant page, Diane! I've never tried those paints before. You should really get your money back for the dried out paint, but I know it's sometimes too much hassle to take it back. This has happened to me once with a tube of Liquitex acrylics. I didn't get it replaced because I couldn't be bothered to go back to the shop. It's easier online, when you just have to send an email. Lovely colour and I love the crackle effect! Have a wonderful week! zsuzsa #34

  4. Your page is gorgeous Diane and the crackle looks lovely on it, gives it so much texture, but what a shame the other pot had dried out. I hope you can get it replaced, these things are not cheap are they.
    Have a good week.

  5. Hi Diane, and firstly thank you so much for the book. It was a delightful surprise, and has been a joy to browse. It feels good to be back, even if I'm only visiting.Second thing, contact Ranger about the dried out paint. I had two dried up, gooey DI reinkers, and emailed them as I'd bought from a few places, and wasn't sure where these two came from. Two days later I had replacements arrive! They seem to be very good at standing behind their products. Have a great week, hugs, Shaz. xx #11

  7. Those crackle paints have a habit of drying up if they have been kept for some time, not sure if there is a date on them. It's so disappointing when you plan to use them. Have a great woyww and happy crafting, Angela x 24
