WOYWW: Art journal

My new painting venture is waiting for the final stage of my first lesson in the book, Paint Mojo.  I ran out of steam then didn't seem to get back to it.  For the new step I am to apply paint to the stamps I have laid out. I've been good about washing my brushes, you can see them in the plastic cup.  There is also a receipt from Office Depot for craft labels for the 2016 DLP, which I have not started.  It seems I started 2016 off with great intention but lack of energy to get anything done.  Will have to fix that.

Sunday I did work in my altered book - still lacks a proper name - and got this spread completed.  My word for 2016 is Fearless.

Some of you may have noticed my comments last week were littered with misspellings.  Well, I had some "help" in writing those comments...
Enjoying a leisurely day watching college football bowls after several days family activities.

It's difficult to type with a napping cat on the keyboard.  Allistair of course didn't seem to think there was a problem.

So, do you have a word for 2016?  Or perhaps a long list of intentions (To Do list) for the year?  Perhaps we can find a way to encourage each other to stay focused as the year progresses.  I know I am in need of some!

New Year to all of you deskers!   I look forward to crafting together with you in 2016.

Joining up with What’s onYour Workdesk? Wednesday where desk snooping is not only allowed but all part of the fun!

  1. Great to see that you have such handsome help. Fearless - a good word for the year. My aim is to say no a bit more - I seem to get dragged into things when I really haven't got the time. x Jackie 26

  3. What a great word for 2016. I know it is one I should adopt - fear took hold last year too often. But I will try to "Shine" this year. Adorable cat indeed!

  5. Allistair is so cute! Oreo often walks all over the keyboard as well causing all sorts of problems, especially when he decides to camp out on one particular key, filling up the entire comment sections with the letter X, for example. I have that book too, but I haven't looked at it in detail. I usually get all excited when books arrive, flip through them and put them away for later for a proper read, then promptly forget about them, possibly because another book arrives and so on and so on. My dream is to build up a library of craft books and surround myself with them! Of course, they're totally useless unless I actually USE them! Love your layout as well as your word. I did think about adopting this word, but my version of it would be FEAR-LESS, ie, live with less fear as opposed to live without fear. Happy WOYWW! zsuzsa #39

  10. Hmmm. As you say, difficult to say what you mean when help like that is given - and the little helper gets so cross if you spurn their assistance!!
Is that snow outside your living room window?? We seem to only be getting rain, rain, and more rain.
The pages are lovely - I trust you will know peace as you seek to walk into the new year. I like the new year poem about standing at the door of the year. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Gate_of_the_Year
I find it encouraging when facing the new and the unknown.
Thanks for the visit and the comments. Life does have a tendency to throw a curved ball, doesn't it?!
Take care my friend. God bless you.

  11. I like your word for 2016. I think one of mine would be explore. This year I want to try new things and spend more time crafting. This is my first year of work so I have more time.
Cat looks like lots of help. When I was working and had my laptop out first thing in morning my cat would sit right by the fan and let the warm air blow right under his chin lol

  13. I had planned to visit sooner, but right after I linked to Julia, my electricity went off. It came back on a short time ago, so now I'm trying to catch up with everyone.

I loved Alistair's pose this week. He's such a sweetie. But don't tell Bleubeard or he'll get jealous.

Glad to see you working in your AB. Like your new word. Mine is Experiment. And, although I don't make resolutions, I do hold myself accountable for intentions I made from the previous year. I even post them, so everyone in the internet world can see how well I did.

Thanks SO much for visiting me earlier while I was offline. Happy WOYWW on Thursday from #1.

  14. Happy 2016 and may you be fearless! My word is 'relax' this year which relates in many ways to how I deal with the world. I need to relax and enjoy my blessings. I must relax in how I deal with certain people in my life..realising their behavior is beyond my control. Also, I would like to take a relaxing vacation this year with my family :) Thanks for visiting my blog earlier :) Shel/PaperOcotilloStudio #14

  15. fearless is a good word. Although, was it fear or sympathy that prevented you moving Alistair?!! Love the pages already, you're very good at this stuff aren't you!

  16. What a great post, Diane! Did you realise that Allistair and you share the same hair colour lol!! He looks extremely decorative, draped across your laptop, and in spite of everything you look extremely relaxed (well, both of you do, really!). I spend most of the time looking like that, it seems! I have awful trouble with Beatrice lying all over my arms when I'm trying to work on the laptop, and when I'm out, she gets up to all sorts of tricks and is a very computer-literate kitty.

I love your pages and your new theme for 2016 - hope we'll see more of this! Some great work going on on a nice busy desk.

Thank you for your lovely comment - a great welcome back to the world of WOYWW and blogging! I've still got a lot of tidying to do but this week is a busy week so it will have to wait. As for my hanging stamps, all you need is a shelf supported by brackets that you can thread a metal rail through. I got some split rings and some clips for conference badges from Ebay and use those to hang the bags. It's a very convenient way to store them and they are easily accessible too.

    Happy belated WOYWW,
