Get up. Get Dressed. Paint. Week 7

Painting with Rae Missigman 15 MINUTES OF MIXED MEDIA© again this week.

I was excited about this week’s paint because I ordered her HAPPENSTANCE COLLECTION of stencils from Stencil Girl and they arrived this week!  I was hesitant about ordering them but after several days of thinking about it I made the purchase.  Glad I did as they are now sold out!

Starting out, I notice her page often have paint on them before beginning.  Now sure if this is left over paint or this is done on purpose as a way to give herself a place to begin.  I will have to ask her this.

I was excited to use the acrylic inks again after the painting disaster a couple of weeks ago.  I like how they create a background effect for the page.  I never would have thought of this.  When I reached for the spray bottle to spray water on the ink I notice before I started spraying (thankfully!) that I accidentally pulled out the stamp cleaner instead of water.  Note to self:  move the stamp cleaner to another spot!

What I learned:

1.        Acrylic inks make an interesting background for the page.
2.      I like using the masks, especially with the white paint.  I have a cheap bottle of white paint and for now that is okay.   Eventually I will need to invest in a better quality tube such as the Dina Wakley she uses.
3.      Making doodles with the pencil on the page doesn't do anything for me so I generally leave these off, and I’m okay with this.
